UDS Cosmetology Students Practice Hair Braiding, Plaiting, and Weaving on 4-19-23
Our media person, Mohammed C. Gbettu, interviewed one of the Cosmetology Students, Melvina. The students practiced hair braiding, plaiting, and weaving.
When asked what she liked about UDS, Melvina answered, “UDS teach[es] and makes you understand things to know.”
She was also asked about particular training materials they needed, and she responded with manicure and pedicure kits.
UDS Cosmetology Students Working With Clients as They Do a Practical Test on 5-5-23
UDS Media Person, Mohammed Gbettu, returned to the cosmetology learning salon to check on the students as they took their 2nd level test on hair weaving and styling.
He interviewed Nelli Pauladine (?). He asked her how she felt about the school, and Nelli responded, “I feel great about the school because they give the opportunity to the youth to better ourself, especially women.”
He asked how she felt styling her client’s hair. She answered, “I feel changed and happy to fix somebody’s hair because that is why I came to UDS.”
03:46 Mohammed moved over to UDS instructor Emmanuel Duwah to interview him.
He explained the students were taking their 2nd level test for weaving and styling. And they will move to the 3rd level to learn manicures & pedicures, and makeup.
When asked about the challenges, Emmanuel shared how the political students started schools in our area and detracted students from enrolling with UDS. He explained how we had more students last year. Then says in optimism, “We still continue, and this school will stand at least longer time than the political school.”
He also confirms that the student’s greatest challenge is the need for learning materials.
