Catering Students Create and Decorate Birthday Cakes, Honoring Their Instructor Frank Tugbeh

Uniting Distant Stars Catering Course teaches students how to make pastries, cook main dishes, and bake and decorate cakes. Our year-long program covers the basics including food safety and three specialties as described. The student’s final project for graduation is to make and decorate cakes. They practice making cakes during the last quarter of their course.

Catering students presented their cakes from left to right: Decontee M Toe holds the football (i.e. soccer) themed, banana-flavored cake; Amie Peabody holds the Minnie Mouse-themed, vanilla cake; and Gwendolyn MC Karngar holds the Paw Patrol-themed apple-flavored-cake. The photo was taken on 10/17/24 during Heather Cannon’s (US Co-Founder and Executive Director visit.

Kelvin Fomba, LIberian Co-Founder and Director, takes and narrates the video. He accidentally was directed at the end.

We want to recognize Frank Tugbeh (Catering Instructor). He started working with UDS in 2018 and is one of our longest-serving instructors. Frank operates his own home-based business called Frank Fingers. He created this name from his customers’ calling his work “Frank Fingers.”

Heather interviewed three of his graduates: Elijah Kotee, Elijah Somah, and Odell Gbehngeh. All three praised his teaching and how much he supports their career aspirations. He deserved to be recognized and Heather broadcasted it on video posted on social media. Frank continues to hone his skills and shares his new knowledge with his students.

The Catering Students did a group photo with Frank and Kelvin Fomba and Heather Cannon, Uniting Distant Stars Co-Founders.
