Chromebooks arrived and ready to be used

On Monday, December 9, 2024, the 50 Chromebooks were picked up after a two-month journey traversing Chicago, Syracuse, Newark, Port Tangier Mediterranee (Morocco), Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), and Liberia.

The Chromebooks were donated by Erin Bagniewski earlier this year.

Kelvin Fomba—UDS Co-Founder Director—and Myrtle S Toe—UDS Business Manager & Registrar, went to M&M Shipping’s warehouse in Liberia to sign for and collect the Chromebooks. When they returned to the campus, they unpacked the two large boxes and inspected the laptops. (Watch a video of Kelvin signing for the boxes.)

Kelvin shared, “The Chromebooks are working here. They asked for updates and they were completed successfully. You can download and transfer documents that can be used offline. The laptops will be a great help; mainly for the staff.” He said they plan to assign one to each instructor and teacher. One of our academic teachers welcomed this opportunity because he is disabled and the computer will assist him. The rest will be used to teach computer students the internet.
